The film "Chosen Home" explores an unconventional path to family when the warmhearted Hatano Genichi falls for Sakuta Saku, a junior high teacher 12 years his junior. Saku, coolheaded and openly gay, insists he has no need for love, viewing his life as an ongoing "trial-and-error" experiment. Desperate to secure their future, Genichi counters with an unusual proposal: they should buy a house together, in both their names, making any potential breakup incredibly difficult. Their nascent relationship takes an unexpected twist with the arrival of 15-year-old Kusunoki Hotaru. She offers them 30 million yen, demanding they pretend to be her parents for the next six months until she graduates junior high. This sudden request thrusts Genichi and Saku into an unforeseen domestic arrangement, challenging their notions of commitment, love, and what it truly means to build a chosen home.
