In the sensitive directorial debut "Yan," a young Japanese architect hesitantly travels to Taiwan, fulfilling his father's dying wish. This journey forces him to confront a fragmented family history: his Taiwanese mother had taken his brother, Ryushin, back to her home country during their childhood. Now, after more than twenty years, he must reunite with his long-lost brother.

The film meticulously explores his present experiences between cultures with a breathless handheld camera, while memories of his past with his mother glow with a warm, tender light. As the grownup brothers attempt to reconnect, they discover that neither Japanese nor Chinese can fully express their complex emotions. Ultimately, the narrative transcends linguistic barriers, using powerful images to release the deepest, unspoken feelings that lie beneath the surface of their reunion.
