Wagaya SP is a heartwarming Japanese drama starring Mukai Osamu as Sakuragi Ippo, a contract staff member at the human resource rental company Yujou Monogatari in Tokyo. Ippo spends his days pretending to be a friend, significant other, or family member to ease the loneliness of others. Despite his popularity, the thirty-something Ippo avoids starting his own family due to the trauma of being abandoned by his father, Takeshi (Nagatsuka Kyozo), twenty years ago. While his mother, Taiko (Tanaka Yuko), patiently waits in their Miura Peninsula home, Ippo and his estranged sister, Honoka (Murakawa Eri), live disconnected lives in Tokyo. The family dynamic shifts when Honoka announces her upcoming marriage and requests a family meeting. At the same time, Ippo receives a rental job that brings him back to his seaside hometown.
