Description:

Umimachi Diary is a touching drama centered on three Koda sisters, twenty-nine-year-old Sachi, twenty-two-year-old Yoshino, and nineteen-year-old Chika, who reside at their grandmother's home in Kamakura, Japan. Having been abandoned by their parents after a childhood divorce, the sisters have not seen their father in fifteen years. Their lives take a significant turn when they receive news of his death. Sachi requests her sisters Yoshino and Chika to join her at the funeral. There, they meet their thirteen-year-old half-sister, Asano Suzu. Yoshino quickly realizes that their father's widow, Yoko, is not Suzu's biological mother and deems her unfit as a proper guardian. Concerned for Suzu's future wellbeing, Sachi attends the funeral services and warmly invites Suzu to leave her current life behind and live with them in Kamakura. Suzu gladly accepts the heartfelt invitation, beginning a new chapter of sisterhood and healing.
