Trot Is Life centers on the veteran trot group Shinhwa, who despite their passion and tireless efforts, struggle for recognition in a music scene dominated by popular survival shows like Mr. Trot. Frustrated by their obscurity, Shinhwa member Kyeongjin hatches a bold plan: to create a modern trot hybrid group, incorporating fresh visuals and a contemporary appeal.

Meanwhile, Jiwon, an aspiring idol under Gods Dream, faces a crushing reality. After six grueling years as a trainee, her agency suggests she abandon her dream to become an instructor for younger talents. Heartbroken and at a crossroads, Jiwon finds solace at a regular bar, where a twist of fate brings her face-to-face with the members of Shinhwa.
