Description:

In 2005 Nara, Ozawa, a second-generation Japanese orphan, diligently works to assimilate into Japanese society. Her life takes an unforeseen turn when Mrs. Chen, her father's benefactor and an adoptive mother of Japanese orphans, arrives from China. Mrs. Chen is desperately searching for her foster daughter, Li Hua, a Japanese orphan who returned to Japan in 1996 to find her biological parents and has not been heard from since.

Initially, Ozawa reluctantly agrees to help, anticipating a brief guided tour. However, Mrs. Chen's unwavering resolve transforms the task into a persistent quest. They soon encounter Kazuo, a compassionate retired policeman, who is deeply moved by their story and joins the search. Despite limited information and not knowing Li's Japanese name, their journey spans from bustling urban centers to serene rural areas. This challenging search gradually unearths the hidden truths surrounding war-displaced Japanese orphans. Through their shared experience, Ozawa and Kazuo are profoundly touched by the deep, cross-cultural love revealed. The quest for Li Hua ultimately evolves into a powerful journey of self-discovery, prompting them to explore their own values and identities.
