Description:

The comedy film Thief Actor follows Onuki Hajime, a former thief who has turned his life around. Now working as a welder, he enjoys a peaceful and happy life with his girlfriend. However, his quiet existence is shattered when a former partner in crime resurfaces and threatens him. Forced back into a life of crime, Hajime is coerced into breaking into the mansion of a picture book writer to steal. While executing the heist, Hajime is caught in the act by several people. Surprisingly, instead of being recognized as an intruder, everyone he encounters constantly mistakes him for someone else. To avoid getting arrested, Hajime must desperately play along with these hilarious misunderstandings. He goes to extreme lengths to keep up the wild ruse in a frantic attempt to escape. Based on the 2006 play Dorobou Yakusha written and directed by Masafumi Nishida, this film explores how far a reformed criminal will go to protect his freedom.
