Description:

The historical drama movie The Throne depicts a tragic chapter of the Joseon dynasty in the year of 1762. King Yeong Jo, who has been ruling for 35 years, faces a devastating crisis when Crown prince Sa Do is accused of plotting treason by his biological mother Lady Yi. This accusation plunges King Yeong Jo into a deep dilemma. Punishing his own son as a traitor would brand the king as the father of a traitor, severely threatening his throne. Unable to execute him publicly, the king orders Crown prince Sa Do to take his own life. However, Sa Do's lieges fiercely oppose this decision, putting their own lives at risk. Faced with this rebellion, King Yeong Jo makes a fateful decision. He ends up locking Crown prince Sa Do inside a wooden rice chest to kill him, sealing a tragic fate.
