The Three Heroes and Five Gallants is a gripping 2016 Chinese drama series directed by Wu Chia Tai, based on the classic 19th-century novel by Shi Yu Kun. Set during the Northern Song Dynasty, the story follows Zhao Zhan, played by Kevin Yan, an expert swordsman who saves the life of Justice Bao Zhen, played by Liang Guan Hua. However, the evil minister Ji Pang, played by Ma Shu Liang, uses Zhan's name to provoke the legendary Five Mice of Xian Kong Island. Led by Bai Yu Tang, played by Chen Xiao, the five swordsmen head to the capital for revenge but detour to Chen Zhou to handle Ji Pang and his son. When Justice Bao is framed and imprisoned, Zhan must protect the court alone. He needs the help of the Five Mice, but cooperation is threatened when Zhan and Yu Tang fall into a complicated love triangle with Ding Yue Hua, played by Zheng Shuang, a beautiful and deadly swordswoman.
