Description:

Set in 1867 Joseon, The Sound of a Flower tells the inspiring true story of Jin Chae Seon, the first female pansori singer. Shin Jae Hyo leads the Dongrijungsa, a school teaching this traditional Korean musical storytelling. Chae Sun, a young girl who has dreamed of performing pansori since childhood, approaches him to learn. However, Shin Jae Hyo rejects her because women are strictly forbidden from performing pansori. Undeterred, Chae Sun disguises herself as a man to enter the Dongrijungsa, but her teacher still refuses her. The stakes rise when Daewongun, the most powerful man in Joseon, announces a national pansori competition called Naksungyeon. Recognizing Chae Sun's true voice, Shin Jae Hyo decides to train her to perform Chunhyangga for the grand event. This dangerous decision puts both of their lives on the line, as exposing Chae Sun's true female identity means certain death.
