The Single Teacher Miss Hayako (Hayako Sensei, Kekkon Surutte Honto Desu Ka?) tells the story of Hayako Tatsuki, played by Nao Matsushita. Hayako is a single 34-year-old elementary school teacher who is generous to her students, enjoys eating and drinking, and loves working out. Although she feels happy surrounded by her loving parents and cute children at school, she occasionally feels lonely. While she wants to marry someday, she does nothing to meet men. Her life changes when she discovers a man's picture for a potential blind date hidden in a living room drawer. Soon after, her father suddenly collapses and goes to the hospital. Witnessing her parents' long-term trust and bond, Hayako begins to think seriously about marriage and decides to actively struggle to find her life partner.
