Alongside his trusted companion Tombei, this roving samurai detective-spy battles dangerous enemies of the Shogun, including the dreaded Iga, Koga, and Fuma Ninjas. Under his wandering swordsman guise, Shintaro is secretly Matsudaira Nobuchiyo, the older half-brother of Tokugawa Ienari, the minor 11th Tokugawa shogun. Because he is the son of a concubine, Nobuchiyo has no claim to official power. To protect his vulnerable younger brother, he adopts the identity of Shintaro to seek out and eliminate deadly plots from rival feudal lords. This action-packed season showcases heroic sword fights, espionage, and deep loyalty as Shintaro fights to maintain peace.
