The martial arts action movie The Protector follows Kham, played by Tony Jaa, a young man whose life is turned upside down when an international mafia syndicate based in Australia captures his two beloved elephants. Smuggled thousands of kilometers away to Sydney, these animals are far more than mere beasts to Kham and his father; they are family and a sacred token of devotion meant for the King of Thailand. To rescue them, Kham must venture into a foreign land for the first time. Even for a martial arts master, taking on this ruthless gang is a massive challenge. Supported by Sergeant Mark Petchthai Wongkamlao, a Thai police officer in Australia, and Pla Bongkuch Kongmalai, a Thai girl forced into modern day slavery, Kham faces the criminal empire of Madame Rose Jing Xing. To succeed, he must defeat her deadly henchmen, including the Vietnamese martial arts expert Johnny Johnny Nguyen and the hulking TK Nathan Jones.
