In the intelligent Taiwanese comedy The Personals, director Chen Kuo-Fu explores the complexities of modern romance and personal identity. The story revolves around Wu, a successful businesswoman in her early 30s played by Rene Liu. While Wu excels in her professional career, her personal life is a different story. Frustrated by the lack of eligible men in her daily routine, she decides to take control of her destiny by placing a personal ad in the newspaper. To her surprise, she receives over one hundred responses. The film follows Wu as she embarks on a series of hilarious and revealing dates with a bizarre variety of suitors.
