The medical drama The Last Breakthrough follows Dr. Albert Wong Fu Fun, who joins the international humanitarian organization Life Force to fulfill the last wish of his deceased girlfriend, Ha Hiu Tung. Fu Fun also establishes the Lung Sing Medical Center to treat the poor. While volunteering in Kenya, Fu Fun inspires Ken Chai Pak Hang, a private hospital doctor, to join his mission at Lung Sing. Meanwhile, nurse Hong Kiu falls for Fu Fun, though he remains deeply heartbroken over Tung. Ken finds himself caught in a love triangle with volunteer Ha Hiu Ching, whom he met in Africa, and Yoyo Go Siu Yau, a wealthy patient. Working alongside Fu Fun, Ken learns that being a doctor means helping patients live meaningful lives, not just treating their illnesses. However, when personal challenges arise, both doctors must confront their own weaknesses and helplessness.
