The Heavenly Sword And Dragon Sabre is an epic adventure based on the popular novel by Jin Yong, also known as Kam Yung, who also wrote Legend of the Condor Heroes and Return of the Condor Heroes. Set in fourteenth-century China during the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty, the story takes place roughly one hundred years after the events of Return of the Condor Heroes. Following decades of famine and misgovernment, rebellious martial arts sects begin to rise. Prince Ruyong seeks a plan from Cheng Kun, a Shaolin monk with an ulterior motive, to deal with the rebels. Meanwhile, a legendary rumor spreads that whoever wields the Heavenly Sword or Dragon Sabre will rule the world. This legend serves as the impetus for the journey of Zhang Wuji. The story follows how his parents met, his painful adolescent trials, his rise to prominence, and the revelation of the secret behind the legendary weapons, ending with his complicated love life, sect grudges, and cruel fate.
