Directed by Gordon Chan, The Four is a thrilling wuxia adaptation of one of Wan Rayan's classic novels, marking the exciting first installment of an epic trilogy. The film stars Deng Chao, Ronald Cheng, Collin Chou, and Crystal Liu as four exceptional detectives in ancient China. When a counterfeit money scheme plunges the capital of the Song Dynasty into chaos, two rival investigation units, the Department Six Constabulary and the Divine Constabulary, are dispatched to solve the case. However, their constant clashing and competition lead to the suspension of the Divine Constabulary. Refusing to back down, the titular four detectives spearhead their own independent investigation. They soon discover that the counterfeit currency is merely the tip of the iceberg, uncovering a much larger, sinister plot to overthrow the entire government. The detectives must now race against time to stop the perpetrator before the dynasty collapses into total ruin.
