Sixty years after World War II, freelance journalist Keiko and her younger brother Kentaro, who is studying for his bar exam, begin a search into the life of their grandfather, Kyuzo Miyabe, played by Osamu Mukai. As they interview veterans who served with him, the siblings are shocked to learn that many viewed their grandfather as a coward. Kyuzo Miyabe was a highly talented pilot who openly believed that life was the most precious thing, a rare stance during the war. Keiko and Kentaro become deeply confused by the contradictions in his legacy.
