Description:

"The Book of Fish" explores the journey of an exiled scholar, a former bureaucrat sent to a remote island. Amidst his new, isolated existence, he develops a profound fascination with the local marine life, inspiring him to write a comprehensive book about fish.

Seeking crucial insights for his ambitious project, the scholar approaches a young fisherman for help. The fisherman, however, initially rejects him, viewing the scholar as a criminal and refusing to assist. Recognizing the young man's self-study struggles, the astute scholar proposes a unique exchange: his academic expertise in return for the fisherman's invaluable knowledge of the sea.

The fisherman accepts the offer, eager to learn. As their collaboration unfolds, the scholar makes a disheartening discovery. He realizes the fisherman's dedication to learning is purely driven by an ambition for personal success, a revelation that ultimately leaves him deeply disappointed.
