Along the way, the bonds between the students and their teachers grow stronger and more meaningful. This successful television series spawned two major sequels that continue the captivating story. The first direct sequel, On the First Beat, released in 2007, continues the journey with Ron Ng and Sammul Chan, joined by Joey Yung, Sonija Kwok, and Michael Tao. The franchise expanded further in 2009 with the release of E.U., featuring Ron Ng and Sammul Chan alongside Kathy Chow, Elanne Kong, Michael Tse, and Michael Miu. Interestingly, Michael Miu takes on a completely new role as a triad boss in E.U., which remains unrelated to his original character in The Academy.
