In the thriller Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Ryu, a young factory worker, desperately tries to save his dying sister who needs a kidney. When Ryu is deemed an unsuitable donor, he turns to a black market organ ring, only to be cheated out of his life savings and his own kidney. To get the money back, Ryu follows the advice of his leftist girlfriend, YoungMin, and kidnaps the four-year-old daughter of industrialist DongJin Park, who recently laid Ryu off. This desperate plan quickly spirals into utter tragedy. Upon discovering the crime, Ryu’s sister commits suicide in despair, and the young hostage accidentally drowns. Devastated by grief, DongJin Park embarks on a relentless quest for vengeance. Simultaneously, Ryu hunts down the organ traders who deceived him. Driven by loss and anger, both men are set on a violent collision course where revenge is the only outcome.
