Sisterhood is set in the Nanyang region of the 1930s, chronicling the challenging journey of Ouyang Tian Qing and Kuang Cai Yun, who travel from Guangdong to Southeast Asia seeking a livelihood. Tian Qing becomes a resilient samsui woman, quickly rising to lead her fellow construction laborers. Her strength earns the admiration of both the wealthy Jia Fu and the humble A Le. Meanwhile, Cai Yun unexpectedly becomes a nanny for young Hu Yaozu but endures relentless bullying from his family. To protect her, Yao Zu sends her away before departing to study abroad. As the Japanese invasion begins, A Le sacrifices his feelings for Tian Qing to join the resistance. When Japanese forces compel Tian Qing's company to construct a shrine, A Le, now a rebel leader, orchestrates a daring rescue, liberating Tian Qing and her comrades and destroying the structure. Through it all, Cai Yun, having faced profound changes, patiently awaits Yao Zu's return.
