Her outgoing best friend constantly pushes her out of her shell, as they navigate adolescence alongside a group of boys, including one from a troubled family whom the protagonist finds herself drawn to.

Life takes dramatic turns after a street brawl and a flat fire, followed by a school fight that results in the expulsion of the boy she likes.
