Shitamachi Rocket (TBS) follows Tsukuda Kohei, a former researcher at the Space Science Development Agency who leaves his career to run his father's manufacturing factory, Tsukuda Manufacturing. Despite his new role, Kohei cannot abandon his dream of developing rocket engines. However, this expensive passion plunges Tsukuda Manufacturing into a severe financial crisis. To make matters worse, a rival company named Nakashima Industrial files a patent infringement lawsuit against them, damaging the factory's reputation and causing banks to reject their loan requests. Amidst this desperation, Teikoku Heavy Industries, one of the leading companies in Japan, offers to purchase Tsukuda's rocket patent for an astounding 2 billion yen. Although this massive sum of money could instantly clear the company's debts and secure his workers' livelihoods, the patent represents the ultimate dream of Kohei and his dedicated engineers. As the president, Kohei must face an agonizing decision: sell the patent for survival or protect his team's manufacturing passion.
