Rookie detective Tatsuya Sumire, who always dreamed of being a heroic detective, finds himself unexpectedly assigned to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Special Entertainment Division. Tasked with deterring crime involving influential entertainers, Tatsuya's first mission is unconventional: infiltrate an internet TV music program as an idol to investigate a threatening letter. This leads to the impromptu formation of the five-member idol group, Deka Dance. The group comprises Tatsuya, a former swindler, a former recluse, a struggling child star, and a silly part-timer. Initially bewildered by the unique world of the entertainment industry, the members frequently clash. However, as they diligently investigate and solve challenging cases, Deka Dance unexpectedly gains popularity. Through their adventures, they gradually embrace their new identities as idols, but their journey will soon lead them to confront a mysterious and formidable villain.
