In the psychological horror movie Schoolgirl Apocalypse, Japanese schoolgirl Sakura Higarino finds her life turned upside down when all the men in her small town transform into zombies and attack the women. The extreme trauma of witnessing the mass murder of her female friends and family members pushes Sakura toward madness. Armed only with a kyudo bow and her English textbook, she fights to survive. Along the way, she suffers from vivid visions of Billy Max MacKenzie, a redheaded boy from one of her books, driving her closer to insanity. Sakura wanders the wasteland and barely escapes death before crossing paths with Aoi Mai Tsujimoto. Although Aoi is mentally and physically prepared to kill, she offers violence and punishment rather than support. Desperate to find the real-life version of Billy, Sakura must battle her slipping grip on reality and decide whether to fight for survival and answers or give up and die.
