As social worker Fung Siu Yung investigates his case, she uncovers an adventurous tale driven by his lifelong pursuit of his true love, Yi Yung Yung. In the 1930s, young Chu Gam Chun, along with his brother Chu Cheung Fun and friends Ng Do Ho and Nau Yuk Gon, failed a firecracker scramble meant to fund his wedding. This mishap leads them to bizarre encounters, turning Ng Do Ho's sister, Ng Do Yu, into a social flower. After failing in the military and becoming prisoners, the group ends up in Shanghai. With the aid of triad leader Nau Lik, Chu Gam Chun remarkably transforms into a powerful tycoon. Despite his immense wealth, a missed opportunity separates him from Yi Yung Yung for forty years, sealing his tragic yet legendary fate.
