"Rising Jakuchuu SP" chronicles the remarkable transformation of Ito Jakuchu, a prosperous merchant in mid-Edo era Kyoto, into an exceptionally talented artist. His artistic awakening is profoundly shaped by the steadfast support and insightful guidance of his dear friend and mentor, the Zen monk and poet Daiten Kenjo. Meanwhile, Iwajiro, an ambitious apprentice from a local toy shop, watches Jakuchu with envy, fueled by Jakuchu's privileged background and connections. Iwajiro, determined to overcome his own lack of advantages, vows to one day surpass Jakuchu. Along their paths, they interact with other notable artists such as Ikeno Taiga and his wife Gyokuran, celebrated for their exquisite Chinese ink wash paintings. All are touched by the profound wisdom of Baisao, the esteemed calligrapher, poet, and founder of the sencha tea ceremony, enriching the historical and artistic tapestry of Edo-era Kyoto.
