Red Medak (Aka Medaka SP) follows Sasaki Nobuyuki, a high school student captivated by legendary rakugo storyteller Tatekawa Danshi. Determined to become his disciple, Nobuyuki lies about his parents to enter the Tatekawa school, earning the name Danshun. Alongside senior disciples Dandan, Kansai, and Danboru, Danshun endures chore-filled days instead of actual rakugo lessons. Inspired by senior disciple Shinosuke, who achieved the futatsume rank by memorizing fifty classics, Danshun studies tirelessly. However, a misunderstanding occurs when Danshun declines a lesson due to a cold. An displeased Danshi orders him to work at Tsukiji selling siew mai. While struggling with this harsh punishment, Danshun learns from Shinosuke about Shiraku, a fellow disciple who refused the Tsukiji training. This drama explores the grueling, comedic, and heartwarming journey of pursuing traditional Japanese comic storytelling.
