The historical drama Queen Insoo chronicles the remarkable life of Queen Insu, born Han Jung, who is widely regarded as the greatest stateswoman of the Joseon Dynasty. The daughter of second state councilor Hanh Wak and wife of King Deok Jong, Han Jung enters the royal court during the era of King Dan Jong by marrying Do Won, the son of Prince Soo Yang. Unlike conventional women, Han Jung openly displays a fierce ambition for political power. Her desire for control leads to an intense rivalry with her mother-in-law, Queen Jung Hee, whom she challenges to place her own son, Sung Jong, on the throne.
