Prophecy is a gripping movie adaptation of the popular manga Yokokuhan by Tsutsui Tetsuya. The thrilling story follows Gates, the leader of a mysterious vigilante group called Shinbunshi. Wearing newspaper masks, this group posts viral internet videos announcing their crimes of justice against individuals they deem guilty of things not punishable by law. As these online vigilantes take matters into their own hands, Erika Yoshino, an elite inspector from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department cyber crime division, is tasked with tracking them down. An intense cat-and-mouse game ensues as Erika strives to stop Shinbunshi before things escalate. However, the investigation becomes highly complicated when the public gradually begins to support and sympathize with the masked group through their videos.
