Folklore professor Rosina Lam investigates the haunting Brides Pool, quickly discovering that someone is using these ancient legends to commit sinister crimes. She partners with reporter Edwin Siu, and together they uncover the secret past of bridetobe Moon Lau. Their collaboration takes a personal turn when Edwin reveals he is the son of Rosina’s mentor, who mysteriously vanished seven years prior.

As Rosina and Edwin continue their mentor's unfinished research into urban legends, they find alarming similarities between the tales and current cases, leading them to suspect his disappearance was no accident. Their deepening investigation connects them with police officer Jonathan Cheung, whose own family history is intertwined with the chilling legend of the fox spirit. Rosina's probe into a long-ago incident brings her to her mother’s pawnshop, while Edwin makes a shocking discovery: his missing father is still alive, challenging all their assumptions.
