Description:

Set in 1830, Oedo Great Journey follows Tatsugoro, once a renowned gambler now burdened by immense debt after a series of devastating losses. An orphan since childhood, he remains solitary as an adult. His life takes an unexpected turn when he is chosen by lot as a representative from a Nagaya multiunit housing. This selection sends him on a significant journey with others to worship at the revered Ise Grand Shrine.

During this epic pilgrimage, Tatsugoro encounters a diverse group of fellow travelers: a loyal dog named Okinamaruo, a curious boy named Miyoshi, and the enchanting woman Saya. For reasons unfolding throughout their adventure, Tatsugoro begins to pretend they are a cohesive family. This heartwarming and transformative journey, adapted from the novel Daken Douchuu Okage Mairi, explores themes of redemption, connection, and finding a new sense of belonging on the road.
