Description:

"Mulan Renewal" delves into the legendary warrior's untold story. After returning home from war, Mulan faces ostracism due to prevailing racism and sexism, prompting her to seek self-worth in a contemporary setting of peace. The film flashes back to the Northern Wei Dynasty, where a young Mulan bravely took her elderly father’s place in the army. Despite her martial arts prowess, she was interrogated by the intelligence agency Bai Lu and relegated to the Hei Shan Camp's lowest tier. Undeterred, Mulan led her comrades through perilous missions: from escaping a Rouran ambush disguised as dancers to infiltrating Merchants Castle to reclaim lost secret weapons, culminating in the defeat of a Rouran General. Witnessing profound loss and betrayal, she realized war offered no true peace. Using her merits for a period of peace, Mulan then guarded the Northern Wei Border, rebuilding the homeland with her former comrade-in-arms, Di Yefei. This arduous journey ultimately shapes her modern quest for identity and belonging.
