Description:

Morlam Summer follows Annie, a New Yorker with a distinctly American lifestyle, as she embarks on a summer vacation to Thailand. Staying with her maternal grandmother in the serene countryside, Annie grapples with profound culture shock, finding it incredibly challenging to adapt to rural Thai customs. Her grandmother, Yai Duang, a revered looktoongmorlum singer in her younger days, now dedicates her retirement to managing a local band, keeping the music alive. Amidst her struggles, Annie meets Sattaya, a modern city guy working as a music director. This encounter, coupled with the pervasive rhythms of looktoongmorlum music, gradually opens Annie's eyes to her grandmother's rich heritage and the vibrant soul of Thailand. Her summer journey transforms into an exploration of cultural identity, family bonds, and the universal language of melody that bridges worlds.
