Mental Coach Jegal is an inspiring sports drama centered on Je Gal Gil, a former national Taekwondo athlete whose promising career was abruptly cut short by a scandalous incident at the athletes village. After enduring a difficult period of personal recovery, he returns to the athletes village, now dedicated to helping others as a mental coach. His mission is to support professional athletes who are either retired or currently battling career-threatening slumps. Among them is Cha Ga Eul, a once world-class short track speed skater facing the danger of fading out due to her own slump. Je Gal Gil's unique approach offers her a path forward. However, his past casts a long shadow, embodied by Gu Tae Man, a powerful director within the Korean Olympic Committee, who was instrumental in Je Gal Gil's downfall. Park Seung Ha, initially Je Gal Gil's therapist, later joins the athletes village as an advisor, further integrating mental health support into the competitive environment. The series explores themes of redemption, overcoming mental health challenges, and resilience in the demanding world of elite sports.
