In March Comes in Like a Lion 2, the story follows Rei Kiriyama, a seventeen-year-old professional shogi player living in Tokyo. Since losing his parents and younger sister in a tragic traffic accident when he was young, Rei Kiriyama has lived a solitary life, focused solely on the shogi career he began in middle school. His isolated world changes when he meets his neighbors, three kind sisters named Akari Kawamoto, Hinata Kawamoto, and Momo Kawamoto. This marks his first connection with anyone outside the shogi community in many years. Having warm meals with the Kawamoto family brings a sense of comfort and healing to his life. As Rei Kiriyama continues his demanding shogi career, his daily interactions with these neighbors help him open his heart. This beautiful bond ultimately allows him to grow both as a shogi player and as a person.
