Set in the snowy landscape of Mashike, a city on the Japanese island of Hokkaido, Man Walking On Snow is a poignant drama about family, grief, and reconciliation. The story follows Nobuo Honma, a 63-year-old sake producer who has been living with his youngest son, Yasuo, since his wife passed away two years ago. Having entrusted his lifelong trade to Yasuo, Nobuo spends his days taking long walks to a mountain fish-breeding center. There, he finds quiet solace watching thousands of tiny fish, a daily ritual to cope with his profound loneliness. As the second anniversary of his wife's death approaches, Nobuo insists on gathering his family. This includes his estranged elder son, Ryoichi, whom he has not seen in years. When Nobuo, his two sons, and their partners finally reunite for the commemoration, long-buried emotions and unspoken feelings resurface.
