Le Grand Chef 2 Kimchi Battle begins when a heated debate erupts between the Korean president and the Japanese Prime Minister over the true origins of kimchi. After the Japanese Prime Minister boldly claims the dish is Japanese, the outraged Korean president returns home to launch a nationwide Kimchi Contest to globalize the beloved dish. The competition takes a personal turn for step-siblings JangEun Kim JungEun and SeongChan Jin Goo, who both enter using their mother's unique recipe. JangEun, a famous chef in Japan, returns to Korea with plans to close down Chunyanggak, the traditional restaurant run by her mother, feeling her mother loved the business more than her family. Meanwhile, SeongChan wants to save the restaurant at all costs. To settle the dispute, SeongChan proposes a high-stakes deal: the winner of the Kimchi Contest gets the ultimate rights to Chunyanggak.
