In the special drama Kutabare Bocchan SP, twenty-seven-year-old Yazaki Junpei, played by Katsuji Ryo, returns to his hometown of Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture after ten years of working in Tokyo. As the grandson of Red Shirt, the infamous antagonist from Natsume Soseki's classic novel Bocchan, Junpei has harbored a lifelong resentment toward the town. His homecoming takes an unexpected turn when an eccentric old man, played by Yamazaki Tsutomu, picks a quarrel with him inside a streetcar heading to Dogo. Junpei suspects this haughty stranger might actually be the legendary Bocchan. Meanwhile, the iconic Dogo Onsen Main Building undergoes restoration to mark its 120th anniversary. Capitalizing on this event, Junpei's former classmate Takasago Yukari, played by Takimoto Miori, launches a plan to revitalize the local shopping street. Soon, both Junpei and the old man get swept up in the town's bustling activities. What fate awaits these two men in this whirlwind of destiny?
