Kono Machi no Inochi ni is a touching and thought-provoking drama that explores the heavy emotional toll of animal euthanasia. The story follows Makita Hiroshi and his fellow doctors, Hataeda Aki and Shiga Satoshi, who work at an animal shelter. Every day, these veterinarians are tasked with the heartbreaking duty of putting down unwanted animals. Although they do what is requested of them, all three constantly suffer from deep pangs of conscience and guilt over the lives they are forced to end. However, their painful daily routine begins to change with the arrival of a new shelter head. Bringing her own unique vision of how these animals should be treated, she challenges the existing system. Her arrival sparks a transformation within the shelter, offering a glimmer of hope and forcing the doctors to rethink their roles.
