Kawa no Hotori de introduces Toshichan and BB, two distinct individuals living a self-sufficient life on the banks of the Tama River. For years, they've made a home in a simple hut covered with a blue sheet, meticulously gathering cans from early morning hours to manage their daily expenses and save on electricity. Despite lacking substantial income, they live a remarkably carefree existence, proudly supporting themselves and unburdened by financial worries. Their established routine is interrupted by Nao, a young actress from a small theater company. Nao, preparing for a demanding role as a heroine involved in a grand romance with a homeless leader, seeks to interview them for authentic insights. This intriguing visit on the riverbanks sets the stage for a profound and extended night, forever altering the perspectives of the unexpected trio.
