In the historical drama Kagero Ezu, a young woman named Nui finds herself utterly lost following the sudden death of her adoptive father, Shimada Mataemon. This tragedy echoes the untimely death of her own biological father, who was killed while trying to expose the corruption of the shogunate. Driven by a quest for justice, Nui resolves to uncover the truth. She courageously undertakes a dangerous undercover investigation to expose the dark collusion involving Kannouji. Her primary targets are the unforgivable and scandalous relationships between the ladies in waiting of the inner palace and the monks. Disregarding the extreme danger she puts herself in, Nui risks her life to reveal the conspiracy.
