In the gripping mystery drama Kage No Chitai, demoted reporter Tashiro Keisuke returns to his scenic hometown, Kurumi Village, alongside colleague Kizaki Kaori. Meanwhile, notorious reporter Kuno Shoichi and his junior Kawashima Eiko arrive to investigate the sudden disappearance of university professor Yamakawa. The paths of these journalists cross when Tashiro slips off a cliff while pursuing a strange presence in the mountains. Upon rescuing him, Kuno finds Tashiro’s video camera, which accidentally recorded a hooded man being taken to a remote hut in the dense fog. Convinced this is the missing Yamakawa, Tashiro tries to report the kidnapping. However, Kuno steals the memory card, and detective Tsutsui Takanori dismisses the claim without proof. Motivated by a desire for the truth, Tashiro and an indignant Kaori launch their own investigation to uncover the dark secrets lurking in the shadows of this seemingly peaceful village.
