I Am Makimoto introduces Makimoto So, a solitary individual working in the omiokuri department at city hall. His unique and somber responsibility is to meticulously arrange funerals and burials for deceased individuals who pass away without any family members. However, as he diligently performs his duties, his job inadvertently brings him into contact with various people connected to the lives of the departed, even posthumously.
