Description:

Hiyokko Week follows the emotional journey of seventeen-year-old Yatabe Mineko, who grows up in a family of seven in a mountain village in northeastern Ibaraki Prefecture. Her life completely changes when her father, Minoru, goes to Tokyo to work but fails to return for the New Year. Determined to find him and send money home, Mineko travels to Tokyo in the autumn of 1964. Alongside her childhood friends, Tokiko and Mitsuo, she is hired to work at a small factory in a working-class neighborhood. After work, Mineko searches for her father, battling moments of deep discouragement. As she overcomes various challenges, she begins to lay down roots in the bustling city. Through heartfelt encounters, laughter, and tears with friends, colleagues, and regulars of the shopping street, Mineko grows stronger. But will she be able to find her father?
