In the hilarious comedy Highway Star, Dal Ho, played by Cha Tae Hyun, is an aspiring rocker stuck in a small town, reluctantly playing trot music at local clubs to survive. His dreams of stardom seem to come true when small-time record company head Jang, played by Lim Chae Moo, offers him a contract. Eager for his big break, Dal Ho signs immediately, only to realize he will be singing trot instead of rock. Bound by his contract and deeply embarrassed, Dal Ho takes the stage behind a mask to hide his identity, only to become an overnight sensation. As the masked singer's popularity skyrockets, he struggles with performing a genre he dislikes. However, with the help of Jang and a cute trot singer played by Lee So Yeon, Dal Ho embarks on a foot-tapping journey that might just teach him the true passion of trot music.
