Hatachi to Ippiki SP is a heartwarming drama starring Suda Masaki as Fujiwara Rihito, a nineteen-year-old who finds himself unemployed after his company goes bankrupt. He stumbles upon the Rescue Dogs Association, a nonprofit organization led by Baba Akio, played by Honda Hirotaro, which trains disaster relief dogs. After a fateful encounter in a park where a rescue dog named Kyu licks his face, Rihito decides to become a handler. Although Rihito only plans to stay temporarily, his bond with the clumsy Kyu deepens after a training yard accident helps him truly understand the feelings of those waiting to be rescued. Along the way, Rihito uncovers a deep connection between his earliest life memory and the Hanshin Awaji Earthquake, where he lost his parents and was subsequently raised by his grandparents, Hiroshi, played by Kobayashi Kaoru, and Fumiko, played by Fubuki Jun.
