Haru to Ao no Obento Bako follows Haru, a university librarian whose main focus is tracking her favorite manga, often neglecting her own meals. One day, the constant barrage of sympathetic remarks about her life takes a toll, plunging her into a profound depression. Seeking an escape from her sorrow, Haru heads to her usual drinking spot. There, she has a fateful encounter with Aokun, an intriguing androgynous individual. They hit it off instantly over drinks, and in a spontaneous, alcohol-fueled decision, they find themselves agreeing to live together. Their unconventional new life under one roof comes with a single, crucial condition: they must prepare daily lunch boxes for each other.
