Set in Matsuyama on Shikoku Island in 1976, Give It All is a touching drama about Etsuko, a fifteen-year-old girl struggling with feelings of futility during the nihilistic Age of Three Nothings. Feeling invisible within her hardworking family, Etsuko searches for purpose. Her life changes when she witnesses a rowing team gliding across the sea. Inspired, she resolves to join the sport at her new high school, only to discover there is no girls' rowing team. Undeterred, Etsuko recruits four other girls to form a crew. Their journey is far from easy, marked by a humiliating initial defeat, the arrival of her childhood sweetheart on the boys' team, an awkward bond with their melancholic coach, and a devastating injury. Just as she faces giving up, Etsuko finds the strength to persist, declaring that rowing is everything to her. By their second season, the girls find their rhythm, pulling their oars in unison toward their first hard-won victory.
